Does anyone know how long you have to reclaim a canceled POTS #?? Not that I would want to go back to POTS, but... if Vonage ever got my local exchange, I would like to get my old number back. I would guess I could do so by reactivating my old POTS #, then transferring it to Vonage, then cancelling POTS again.
I had Verizon. I suppose this policy varies from LEC to LEC, but if anyone has idea, that would be nice.
Thanks |

once it's canceled you can't get it back unless it happens to be available still and you request it. there may be a short window to reclaim it, but you'd definitely be past it by the time vonage gets your exchange.
and if you ever port a number to vonage, don't cancel the line, it will automatically be canceled. |

At this point, it's not really a big deal. It would be nice to have my town's exchange again. People get confused when I give them my number (Pizza delivery, etc...) That's because people are used to knowing what you live in my your phone #. If it ever becomes available in my area, I'll just pick up a new one. |
