Paulie: Thank you for choosing Vonage! I’m Paulie, your Vonage sales agent. Before you start your Vonage order, how can I help you?

You: Regarding the business 1500 plan for $39.99 a month,

You: what would be the monthly cost after all those FEES, TAX, ETC ?

Paulie: How many lines are you needing?

You: 1

You: $70?

Paulie: What is your zip code?

You: 76017

Paulie: The start up costs today would be $62.45 including all taxes/fees and then $51.88 monthly thereafter.

You: $51.88 ...ok

You: Do you have an annual plan for it so that I can save by paying yearly?

Paulie: Yes you can do that once you order and go into your online account and choose to pay a year in advance. I believe the savings would be 10-15% of the annual cost.

You: With a biz account, how does the caller ID with name feature works?

You: Does it allow me to change it (my name, my business name, by DBA name) anytime I want?

Paulie: No I don't believe that is possible.

You: So, how it is set?

You: And if my business name changes?

You: (I would use it for ebay selling. I would like it to show my ebay ID which might never be the same)

Paulie: Okay you can try going into your online account and changing the name on the account when your business name changes.

Paulie: If that doesn't work you can call customer care to get further assistance.

You: Ok. Let me tell you the situation..

You: I have a personal account that I use for my part time home business.

You: (ebay selling)

You: and my caller ID is stuck with my Last, F.

You: They don't let me change it. I don't want to show my Last, F when I call people. Here is what they replied back "Thank you for contacting Vonage. In response to your recent request for assistance with your Vonage account, currently the Outbound Caller ID with Name feature is available for U.S. Residential accounts only. Vonage does not support outbound Caller ID for businesses or business names on Residential accounts."

You: I am paying $382.38

You: a year.

Paulie: Right, that is how it will show for Vonage too so change the name on your account using your business name as the last name. That way, it shows up right.

You: I was thinking if upgrading to biz account would address this problem it if it not too expensive... Otherwise I would switch to ATT. A rep from them offered me something similar for about the same $.

You: Also another issue is "An incorrect name is displaysed on SOME outgoing calls."

You: Your support page says "An incorrect name can display on Caller ID when the phone company of the person you are calling gets the name from their Caller ID database rather than displaying the name Vonage provides."

You: Then how do I control "their caller id database" and make sure they have my business name?

Paulie: You can't control it.

You: You are saying there is no way to 100% make sure when I call people, they will see my company name on their phone, no matter what phone company and account type I use?

Paulie: That will most likely be the issue no matter which phone company you choose.

You: caller ID is a mess then?

You: an uncontrollable mess?

Paulie: Yes that is what it appears to be. "/

Weird why Vonage does this, haven't figured out the question. But on any business line, you can not have a caller id. Caller id is only used for residential lines.

I think this is not a system wide issue. Have you tried contacting the support team here?
