I still noticed the phaser sound after the upgrade, but with the workaround plug installed, it is quieter than before the upgrade. I have a new RT31P2 coming tomorrow, so hopefully that will solve the noise problem.

are you saying the new rt31p2 is here - the one finally w/ the hissing fixed ? Should I call for one? or is your current one so bad any improvement would help?

I downloaded it manually (then deleted the .bin file) and updated it. Everything running in less than 5 mins.

Before that, I tried (over the course of 3 hours):
unplugging the phones
several factory resets
a 30 minute power-down
just leaving it be

Could it be because I have to clone my MAC Address from my ethernet adapter to the router? Without doing that, I'd have no internet to recieve an update with (I tried changing it with my cable provider once, and it was a mess...I just told them to forget it and put it back how it was).

I wasn't sure if the account information for doing updates is tied to the PA's MAC Address.

Just a thought.

P.S. I know my post count says I'm new, but I've been lurking for months and months so to all you guys who have given all the great help and advice: Thank You. These forums were the main reason I went with this service in the first place.

Still here Smile ...hehe I actually found a solution for those of you that were unable to receive the update from me the first time. It requires me to change some settings on my end to allow the firmware to push through by other means. If anyone still requires the update or did not receive it when I sent it out please pm me and I will make the necessary changes.

IM not sure if it is a "new" one or just and older one that doesn't hiss. I talked with tech support last weekend and they shipped one out after trying a couple of things from their end. The claim is that a bad resistor is causing the noise problem on certain RT31P2's. I asked if the new one would be defective as well and was told it would be highly unlikely. It should hopefully be delivered on Friday 2/11, so Ill report back.

My replacement router came today and the phaser noise is gone. It has the new 1.27.01 firmware and the voice version is 2.0.13(LIb), im not sure if that one is an update over the previous router.

I e-mailed tech support sunday night and got my new router today, so maybe e-mail is the way to go? Question

I am mostly lost with this stuff ... but Vonage worked right out of the box for me, with the Linksys RT31PT added to my wireless router. Haven't had a serious problem in two months ... then this morning, nothing. No dialtone and the light for the phone line will not come on.

Is the firmware update everyone is talking about the culprit? I didn't ask for it or OK it or anything. Did it get updated without my knowledge and somehow end my phone service?

I cycled the power on and off several times, still nothing. Someone please help? It **** having no phone service.
