I asked Ssantana for the upgrade (I was still on 1.25) and it pushed through this am (THANKS!, Ssantana!). I didn't realize it had, though.

Suddenly a few hours ago, I lost my internet connection and my phones. I went to the interface in the router and saw the upgrade had arrived and immediately assumed it was the problem. Called Vonage support and the really nice guy and I were troubleshooting when I said, "Oh, man, I never even thought to see if Comcast was down." He had me hook my notebook directly to the cable modem, and bingo. Dead in the water. Got off the phone and found out we'd had a pretty much systemwide comcast explosion. (They'd just gone to the 4mbs speeds within the last few weeks and maybe that caused a hiccup; I dunno. We so rarely lose our service, it never occurred to me to check there first.)

Anyway, it all came back to life about 20 minutes ago and calls are great. My husband commented that the quality was the clearest yet. So far no problems. Have my router set to autoupgrade and have for the last few days, since the discussion of the upgrade here. Haven't noticed a lost of connection, but will keep an eye out for it.

The "slows" from the voicemail of yesterday are gone today, too. Don't know if it has to do with the upgrade or not.

After pressing the Upgrade button, then clicking OK to the Javascript prompt, should the admin screen say anything.... like update in progress or something? I have selected the RT31P2_v1.27.01_000_combin_code.bin and nothing has happened. The phones are working too. Am I missing something here?

ssantana, what info do you need to do a firmware update? I'll PM you (or any other rep) whatever's needed, my router has a tendancy to drop the connection almost periodically Neutral

Got 1.26.01/2.0.12 here so meh.

ssantana,
I just PM'd you for the 1.27 firmware. I have remote update on.... Should I?? What else should I do?? Do I need to unplug the Phone and shorted RJ11, while waiting for the update?? BTW: The RT312P is behind my Netgear Router.

I have been using the shorted RJ11 in the Line 2 jack to get rid of the phaser noise.

I just ordered a fax line, I want to start using the line 2 jack for that full time. I ordered the fax line a half hour ago and it's already shown up in my router for line 2.

I hope the firmware fixes the phaser noise for me.

Downloaded 1.27 and attempted to upgrade after removing shorted dummy dongle in phone port 2. The upgrade seemed to be going ok, but then spent the next ten minutes stating it was configuring when I gave up and hit the reset button on the back of the device. Oops no internet, no phone through the RT31P2. Tried factory reset, holding button for 10 seconds--no joy. Disconnected power then restart -- no joy. Finally as a last resort tried reinstalling with the CD--that worked and I feel lucky to be back up on 1.26.

I just checked my device and it has been upgraded to the 1.27 firmware last night. I have remote upgrades disabled, always have. These upgrades are controlled by Vonage, regardless if you have that feature turned on or off. I suppose you can recommend that you don't receive an upgrade, otherwise it will come when it is your turn.

I hope that the issues that have popped up this week, dropped calls, only one side hearing the conversation, line dropping out..., is remedied with this upgrade. Funny how it started when the new firmware came out.

I assume you rebooted your router in order to install and activate the firmware...

No. I just checked through my browser and it was there. It states it is running on 1.27. The same thing happened with the previous upgrade, it was just there, I never rebooted it.

Got the firmware upgrade. My only hope is that it kills some of the echos when people call me and some of the beeps and bloops when talking with female voices.

I too experience the "phaser sound" or "excessive background noise" or hiss, and, as most have expected and already proclaimed, this firmware obviously does nothing to address that issue.

it fixed most peoples issue on the air woosh noise. If anyone noticed at all about it...It corrected a few things. Just keep that voice QOS at the 512 where it defaults in new firmware. Suddenly its rock solid.
