did you find anything in those pages that remotely sounded like it would benefit you? if so, then I would go for it. if not, no sense in inviting trouble imo.

I just wanted to chime in and say that with this new firmware update, my calls are a lot clearer. I just got off the phone with a friend who asked "did you get a new phone? that other one sounded cheap" plus I notice a real improvement in the "echo" I would sometimes get. In fact, I had to really crank up the volume on my phone and listen really, really closely to notice a single thing.
I was getting these issues with the 1.24.x firmware I recieved with the device when I signed up in October, but now...now it sounds at least as good as my old land line, if not better.
I was reasonably happy with the service before..now I'm incredibly happy with it.

I downloaded the upgrade but every time I go and try to upgrade the firmware, it pauses and keeps asking me to log on and it doesn't update. My brother on the other side of the country is also getting this issue.

I doubt this is the solution, but be sure you don't have a dongle or shorted phone cable in the unused phone port on the adapter. That stops the update from being accepted.

I made sure nothing was connected in there. You're correct, that will block it.

Post subject: Firmware upgrade
I also tried to do a manual upgrade. From the WAN port and from the ethernet port of the MTA. In each instance my browser ask me three times to log in during the process and at what looks like the end of the process I got a "401 error page" stating that my browser don't have the credentials to access this page. Then I power cycle the MTA to return to the initial state... I run under Win98se, the MTA didn't had anything plug into except the ethernet cable and the power cord.
Lorash had success to accomplish his manual upgrade maybe he could feed us with a few specs of his setup?
ssantana tried a least 3 times to push the upgrade to me, with no success...
With my actual setup, my MTA was upgrade a few days after my initial activation from something like 1.20 to 1.24.xx, why is it not working now? Mystery!

Again, this probably won't help but . . .
Do you have remote upgrades enabled on the MTA? (The default is "Diabled.") I think that might possibly cause the problem you're experiencing.
Just a guess, but can't hurt to check.

Yes, remote upgrade is enable, remote administration too since the MTA is normaly behind a router, so I access it from the WAN port. But I tried from the ethernet (LAN) and WAN port with exactly the same behavior from the MTA...

I don't think they have the same firmware versions, but just to clarify, the MTA is the motorola VT1000 or VT1005 adapter. this thread is about the linksys RT31P2 adapter which is an ATA.

Sorry, I thought that MTA was a generic term for telephone adapter, I'm really talking about the RT31P2. Hey, we're learning everyday!
