Just recently signed up with Vonage. Absolutely love it!!! I have my Linksys RT31P2 phone adapter device setup inside my Linksys BEFW11S4 wireless router.

My question is this. Can I assume the only way to get to the 192.168.15.1 interface is by connecting directly to it? Is there any way to configure the wireless router so I can access to the 192.168.15.1 management address?

Yes, but you have to first connect to it directly to change a setting. Connect a computer directly to the RT31P2 with an ethernet cable and open the config screen at http://192.168.15.1. Then go to Administration/Management and enable Remote Administration. You can also change the port number or accept the default. Whatever you decide, make a note of the port number, as you'll need it. Save the settings and you can disconnect the computer from the RT31P2.

Next open the config screen in your BEFW11S4 and find out what local IP address the DHCP has assigned to our RT31P2. From that point on you can access the RT31P2 by typing that address followed by a colon and the port number you wrote down. For example, you will probably use http://192.168.1.x:8080 (substituting the correct number for x and assuming you use port 8080).

That should do it.

Awesome! Thanks so much for taking the time submit this informative post. I forgot about the whole remote administration management portion of the Linksys.

I have my the same setup and have internet access and a dial tone....However, when I place calls I do not hear a ring....eventually I receive a busy signal. My service has not yet been transferred from Verizon but I assume that would not be an issue with outbound calls.

Any help?

Not quite sure about your situation...hope someone else can help. I assume you have gone through all the basic troubleshooting steps. My service has yet to be transferred over yet, but have no problems. My setup was also working perfectly fine without the opening of any ports. I know I have read where people say you really don't need to open them, but I did anyway.

I did as Fletcher outlined in the above post and can now successfully access my Vonage router. I also called up to force the new firmware update as I rebooted a few times yesterday and did not get the new version (1.27.0.1).

dwe: can you even access voicemail? what do you have under status at the rt31p2 web interface? do incoming calls work?
