I am running out of patience with my MTA, as everyone I call complains that they cannot hear me. Call quality is otherwise ok. I understand that the VT1005 output volume cannot be adjusted ( http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic2103.html ), but that the RT31P2 and WRT54GP2 are adjustable.
Which of these two adapters is the best option? And will Vonage swap out my unit? I have been a customer for 15 months. If not, what is the best deal?
Thanks for your advice. |

I personally prefer the wired RT31P2 only because all my equipment is centrally located. A WRT54GP2 would be unnecessary unless I had a laptop that I like to use in different rooms at times. Dragging a cable around would be inefficient. Therefore, the only choice you need to make is, "Do I need WiFi or not". |

Thanks for the info, mbhn5204. I am currently running my Motorola box behind a DI-514 wireless router. This is very stable for me, compared to having the MTA in front of the router. Of course I lose the QOS functionality, but it never seemed to work properly, anyway.
So I don't need wireless, except the possibility of upgrading to 802.11g and getting effective QOS is attractive. Anyone care to comment on WRT54GP2 QOS? Or RT31P2 QOS, for that matter?
Is background noise an issue? |

all of your questions have been discussed at length. a simple search wil provide you with boundless information on those topics. fwiw, those two routers are basically identical besides wireless functionality, so their QoS is the same. |
