Trying to do something by myself for the first time, need help.
I have a control box which has a 4x10 punch down telephone module. All the telephone jacks in the house are connected through cat5 cables.
Currently My line being used by AT&T and is through line 1 on the punch down which is the Blue/stripped blue line. Now I would like to connect the Vonage adapter to the punch down. So I disconnect the Blue pair from the punch down (dial tone is gone for the AT&T line) , then from the Vonage adapter I have a RJ11 stripped on one side and take the red/green cables and punch down into the Blue/stripped locations. I however don't get any dial tone.
I was however successful other way round where I just input the RJ11 into wall telephone jack , which gives me Voip connection in all the jacks.
I would like to understand what is it I am doing wrong in the first process and I don't like the second one because the location is not ideal and have run a long cat5 cable to the Vonage adapter.
