My sister lives in Italy, her boyfriend is in AL. When travelling he rings her by dialling his home number & rerouting the call to Italy.
About 6 months ago, she started to hear a US ringing tone when he calls this way & when she picks up, the line goes dead for both of them. He keeps ringing, 15, 20, or more times, until she eventually hears her normal Italian ringing tone & the call connects OK.
He was with Frontier but changed to Vonage in December to see if it resolved the issue, but it’s still happening. The call is connecting through every time, therefore the router is working correctly, so Vonage say the problem must be in Italy. But my sister’s phone company say that it’s not at their end. His adapter is either VDV22 or VDV23 (from Best Buy).
The key to this issue seems to be the ringing tone that my sister hears. Has anyone experienced a similar problem & can explain why this is happening? Thanks. |
