pankej,

Thanks for the tip. It seems to work wonderfully. I went out and bought a phone splitter so I could hook this up to my modem! It's not being used for anything else, this at least gives me a good use for it. And I keep my computer on all the time anyway.

Could you give me the steps to get this thing to work. I unplugged my home phone from my Vonage box and ran a line from my PC modem to the input jack on the back of the Vonage box. I called my home number from my cell phone and the caller ID worked fine.

I went out and bought a phone line splitter so that I could plug in my home phone into one side and plug my PC modem into the other side and it is not working.

Can I get some help on this please?

It worked well for me. I can only suggest you make sure the phone splitter is in well enough on the back of your phone adapter. Sometimes, with the way the adapter and the phone splitter are designed, it doesn't really stick in well enough and has a tendency to pop out.

Also, when you say it's not working do you mean neither your telephone or the modem? Does one work while the other doesn't?

Neither the telephone nor the modem work separately with the splitter. I went and bought another one to see if I just had a bad splitter and tried it a few minutes ago. No luck. With the modem plugged straight into the damn Vonage box, the audio/visual caller ID stuff works just fine. With the phone plugged in straight, it has always worked fine. Did you do any kind of setting adjustments within PhoneTray after you plugged your stuff in?

No, it just worked out of the box. Have you made sure the splitter is in far enough? There is a cable you can buy at Radio Shack that is like a telephone cable but with a splitter on the end. Perhaps that would work?

I don't want Phonetray - all it does is catch the call and decide what to do. It is incapable of turning the call around and passing it back to the regular phones, sending caller-id and then applying ring.

Sorry - it isn't a solution. I want ACR, plain and simple. If Vonage doesn't get off their ass I'm just going to drop the service and go with a provider that does offer it.

What I did in my set up as follows

Ethernet cable Cable modem --> Router --> Computer
Phone Cord Router --> Phone Splitter --> One phone cord to modem --> Other phone cord to input of Home wiring circuit (one of your phone Jack)

Click on Fix caller ID on phonetray configuration and reboot computer and test with your cell phone

I believe we all want ACR....at least I do. I am simply looking at Phonetray as a temporary solution in the meantime until Vonage provides ACR. I will not necessarily wait a long time for Vonage to make that happen but I am not going to jump ship right now. I originally started using Vonage in December of 2003. In the fall of 2004, I saw that VoicePulse was offering more features (including ACR) for $19.95. I tried the service but the basic call quality was not quite up to what I had been accustomed to with Vonage. I cancelled VoicePulse within 2 weeks and was glad I had not started the number port process yet. I guess basically what I am saying is........the green grass is sometimes not as green as it appeared from the other side of the fence.
