I've seen it said that you can actually get a
Vonage
rep to turn on ACR, what does it take to get that done? An act of Congress? I am getting calls at 2-3-4AM that are simply a beeping noise when I pick up the phone. I don't have the luxury of turning the phone off because of elderly parents and sick family members. The ACR needs to be put in place, we have been promised this service for months but it has never come to fruition.
Vonage
needs to get off their duffs and make this happen for once and for all. Sun Rocket sent me an offer this week of $199 per year, thats roughly $16.59 per month and they offer way more services than
Vonage
including ACR.....crap or get of the pot
Vonage
!
does Sun Rocket offer Caller ID Configuration?

Hello. I am running
Vonage
with a high-speed internet cable service. I downloaded phonetray but I think I'm doing something wrong or maybe it's only for dial-up modems? If you can offer any help on phonetray with
Vonage
on a high-speed cable internet connection, I'd be so appreciative. Thanks.

Post subject: Caller ID block
Does anyone know a way to configure the RTP300 to get the caller ID data on my PC? I talked with
Vonage
and was told that it's not possible. I can get the data on my regular phone so I know the data is there. But when I connect it to a caller enabled modem on my PC all I get is ring, ring on the hyperterminal. Any help would be appreciated.
thanks,
Joe

RTFM before you sign up.
Vonage
clearly states all of the available features...so it was your fault you signed up before fully informing yourself.
Caveat emptor.
Yes they said caller ID was included now they tell me that it's not available on my PC.

It's been promised now for almost a year. I'm sorry, it isn't so hard to implement as you just intercept privacy marked calls and divert them to an intercept advising the caller to hang up, dial *82 and the number.
I'm calling
Vonage
now and asking about it for the umpteenth time.

I am sorry, nowhere does
Vonage
say you can view your caller ID information on your PC. It says Caller ID is included, and it is. You get caller ID information on your telephones, just like you do with POTS.

Thank you for the link you sent to phone tray. I installed it and it is picking up the internal modem in my PC and not associating itself with vonange.
If you have any tips on how to get it in sync with
Vonage
I would be so appreciative. Thank you so much.

Post subject: M$ Fax service gives caller id
This may or may not be helpful. I too would love ACR, and was told by
Vonage
it would be coming this fall, we'll see. My problem was anonymous fax calls, and I don't have a fax machine. In desparation to stop them, I activated the fax service on my PC to capture some of the offenders and opt out. Call volume reduced but not eliminated (unfortunately my number is listed as a fax number on a website that is up even though the company no longer exists and I can't get it taken down, so I guess it is being 'harvested')
A side effect is that the caller ID (if it exists) is showing up on my pc every time the phone rings when the fax monitor service is running, and it is already built into Windows.
One more issue, which speaks to call blocking, is that some of these junk faxers have spoofed their caller id to show something like 19999999999 or some other useless number. I'm guessing ACR won't work on that, need something more aggressive like call block/allow, ideally activated by a button push on the phone right after a call.

ACR now!
I am not buying the E911 excuse. This has apparently been an issue for many months, even predating the E911 mandate and there are plenty of programmers out there looking for work.
Vonage
is generating enough revenue to pay for prime time TV commercials and signing up customers left and right. If current staff is too busy working on E911 to devote time to ACR, then hire more people or outsource the programming.
Is anyone else peeved by the incentives offered new sign-ups, not only by
Vonage
, but seemingly any and all providers of services? Why is it you have to switch providers and THEN you get offers for free service or reduces rates? Adelphia is on my s**t list for this big time. New subscribers can get I believe a $19.95 rate broadband service for 6 months and I'm forced to stay on digital cable TV service in order to keep my rate at ~$35.00 a month. If I dropped cable TV they'd jack the price to ~$60.00. I think I may try calling them and see if I have to switch providers in order to get a break. Sorry to stray off topic, but this is something that's ticked me off for a long time.
This forum rocks! Not only is it motivating me to make some calls and torture some poor CSR 'till they're close to tears, before I bark "escalate me to your supervisor NOW" but it's providing me with lots of alternatives that are less expensive and apparently more fully featured than
Vonage
. Plus, if I leave I guess I'll get offered several months of free service to come back.
Yeee-ha! Thank you very much
