Post subject: Short interruptions and deteriorating sound quality
Hello:
Since about a month or two, calls break up and sound quality deteriorates.
I have a Motorola cable modem gateway SBG6580, and connected to it are two computers and phone adapter Motorola VT2442. A voice phone line is connected to the phone adapter. Its on that line I have problems.
The problems disappears for a while if I turn off and then turn on the gateway and adapter.
I do not know what to do. Any advice how to troubleshoot this problem would be very much appreciated, since my wife is breathing down my neck.
Regards,
Hans L

You need to turn off SIP ALG on your SBG6580
Info here: (search for SB6580 on this page)
http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Routers+SIP+ALG
Since the info on that page says you cant turn it off you need to put the VT2442 in the DMZ.
Info on how to do that...
