Current Setup:

Comcast cable modem with 10/100 port connected to INTERNET port on Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router WRK54G.

PC NIC connected to port 1 on Linksys router.

802.11g wireless card in my laptop. All works just fine.

Now I have Vonage. They sent me a Linksys router with 2 phone ports.

What is the best configuration to get all of these things to play nice together. You know it is really frustrating because I believe if my wireless router just had a phone port I would be all set....anyway, any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks. I dont have the digital phone adaptor. Unless this is the 2 phone port Linksys router?

Thanks. That did it. Simple as pie but the weirdest thing though. I have asked for my current # to port over but have not yet sent the LOA. I called my cell from my home line and the call ID was my home number. I looked in my Vonage log and yep there was a call from my current home number to my cell. Could they have gone ahead and ported without the LOA?

nope - im just getting into this. havent gotten that far yet. It's really strange i can make a call from my home phone to my cell and it rings as my home number but if i call my home from my cell I get a busy signal. How do I find my default number from Vonage given to me while in port status?

Also - I have a phone cord run from the wall to the phone 1 port on the phone adaptor rather thatn an actual phone. Should that make a difference?

Un-plug that ASAP, you could fry your adaptor with the small voltage from the phone line.

Go to vonage.com and login to your account to view your number and all other settings

ok thanks. I think I may have it. Normal base phone connected to phone port 1. Still strange though because calls made from the phone connected to the Vonage adaptor show up as my current telco home number...

hey -- they haven't ported your number but that have entered your new previous number into their outbound callerid database - so therefore if you call people it appears as if you are calling from the number you are porting -- however it is actually your virtual number. If someone tried to call you back on the Vonage phone they would have to dial the virtual number.
