i too am having problems. initially we had two Vonage lines, and one was doubling as a voice/fax line. it is plugged into port number two of my Vonage adaptor. Sending most of the itme does not seem like a problem, but on the receiving end it is a crap shoot. there are thime the fax machine never answers the call, other times the faxer is getting a busy signal, almost as if the fax machine is not hanging up when it has completed the job. anyone out ther have a lexmark all in one and have had fax free experience?

I thought you could only fax if you bought the fax line?

Can I simply plug in my fax machine to the router and fax from there or do I have to buy the fax line?

so far beyond that issue. it is a lexmark 6170 fax machine that isn't even ringing when someone tries to call and send a fax. and that person's suggestions still does not help with the PISS POOR SUPPORT i am receiving.

i didn't respond to the suggestion because it had nothing to do with my issue

ok well according to your subject title it's a 6150.
one thing you might look into is this:
in the thread you've been posting in (http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic2977.html) and in one of my old threads (I had the same problem), it talks about the ring voltage not being high enough. see if you can get Vonage to up the voltage from the adapter.

Ok! Are you using jack 1 or jack 2 for your fax service? Do you have the fax service from Vonage? What Phone adapter are you using? Is it a normal setup?

Have you tried lowering the baud rate to 9600 baud? The phone circuit may not be equipped to handle anything faster at this point. Also, have you disabled the ECM feature, if you have one?

You might also consider calling the manufacturer of the phone adapter. I am assuming that you are using the Linksys RT31P2. Since you haven't revealed to us what device you're using we have a more difficult time trying to brainstorm this problem. Furthermore, just because there is an oversight in using a fax in a phone jack does not necessarily mean the cause belongs to Vonage.

Would you consider calling Linksys, if they are indeed the manufacturer at: 1-800-326-7114 or you may elect to email them at support@linksys.com

i have the pap2, am using line 2 and have the fax service, i have no reason to believe the adaptor is bad since my voice calls work great and this works if I have a phone plugged into the fax machine...

You can buy a phone splitter and plug directly into your TA. HOWEVER, you take your chances when faxing over a non-fax line. Try *99 as a dial prefix for your outgoing faxes and also SEARCH THIS FORUM for way too many posts on this topic.

I too have the Lexmark 6170. I do not seem to have trouble with an incoming fax just outgoing. I have only the one line I use for both phone and fax. The machine dials out fine but it does not recognize the fax on the other end. Well thats about 95% of the time. Some machines it works fine with. I have the rate set at 9600 and error correcting off. Any suggestions?
