These used to be quite common ten or twenty years ago and are a significant aid to older folks using voice mail. Can't seem to find them any more. If you are not familiar, this is a stand-alone device, usually with an AC adapter, that plugs into the phone line and flashes brightly when messages have been received. This is particularly good for those whose phone systems have rather inconspicuous message waiting light. Anyone know where you get them today?
