I just signed up the other night.
I have the Linksys PAP2. Got it at bestbuy.
I'm running a D-Link DI-704P router.
I'm using Charter pipeline 3 meg service.
Followed the directions to install.
My Power-Status light is on Blue.
My Ethernet is blinking.
But no Phone light.
So as u guess it's not woking.
I've never had to change anything on my router
to get something to work before.
I just plug in whatever and it works.
Can someone point me in the right direction?
Do I need to change router settings to get
this thing to work??
Thanks for any and all help.

Followed this directions.
---------------------------------------------------
1. Disconnect the power from all devices on your network. This includes your Cable/DSL modem, router, and computers.
2. Disconnect any USB cables from the Cable/DSL modem if present.
3. Connect an Ethernet cable from the Cable/DSL modem's Ethernet port to the WAN port on the router.
4. Connect an Ethernet cable from the LAN port on the router to the Ethernet port on the Linksys PAP2 Phone Adapter.
5. Connect a telephone to the PHONE 1 port of the Linksys PAP2 Phone Adapter using a standard phone line.
6. Connect the appropriate Power cable to the Cable/DSL modem.
7. Wait about two minutes for the Cable/DSL modem to boot up before continuing.
8. Connect the appropriate Power cable to the router.
9. Wait about two minutes for the router to boot up before continuing.
10. Connect the Power cable provided with the Linksys PAP2 Phone Adapter to the POWER port on the Linksys PAP2 Phone Adapter.
11. Wait at least five minutes for the Phone Adaptor to boot up. The Linksys PAP2 Phone Adapter's blue status light will blink in sequence until it has fully connected to the Vonage network. There may be updates that need to be downloaded such as new firmware or changes to your features. Do not interrupt the configuration process by unplugging the power or lifting the receiver on your phone during the startup process. Interruption of the startup may result in interruption of service.
12. Once the Linksys PAP2 Phone Adapter's blue status light is solid, the Linksys PAP2 Phone Adapter is ready to use.
13. Pick up your telephone receiver and listen for a dial tone. If you hear a dial tone, you have finished the installation and can begin making calls. If you do not get a dial tone, please refer to the Advanced Installation and Troubleshooting section of the Installation Guide.
14. Connect an Ethernet cable from the LAN ports on the router to each of your computers. Power up each computer. Your Internet connection should work as it did before you installed the Phone Adaptor.
15. If you have DSL, your DSL provider may require you to enter a username and password for PPPoE setup on your router. Not all DSL providers require PPPoE setup. For more information, please contact your DSL provider. |

OK.... Here is what I've found out so far tonight.
If I hookup the PAP2 without the router it works fine.
Placed a call on it.
So it's something with my router.
I guess it's time to try port forwarding or something. |

Thanx for the reply man.
I'll try it later tonight. Sure hope it works.
Vonage is starting to be more trouble than it's worth.
The d@mn PAP2 needs to have 2 LAN ports. 1 input and 1 output.
That way you could just slap it in between the modem and router.
Not everyone is a network junky and reads message boards.
I HATE calling any tech support. Most do not know half what I do. "lol"
BTW.... The 704 router is not listed on the page you posted. |
