Received my Linksys RT31P2 yesterday from Vonage and followed teh isntructions for setup. When the router boots up the phone lights are never lighted although the internet light is. I can surf the web and do whatever I want but the phone has never worked, even for a minute. Spent two hours on the phone with "service" last night only to have the guy rush me off with, "there's a database error... it will be up in an hour." It still is not working (and I didn't believe him then).
What should I do? |

when you go to http://192.168.15.1 what does it say uder Status? also, from what I've read, it's possible that it either messed up in a firmware update or could be a bad device. or the device may have never been provisioned with your phone number (or there was an error with it) before it shipped. |

My linksys came with a defective cat 5 cable. Luckily I had a spare and that got me up and running. Do you have a spare cable availlable to try? |

Under status for the phone lines the screen is blank. Surfing is working, though.
Is it possible that it's been provisioned for my permanent number which is being moved from my old ISDN line and not for the temporary number? |

Vonage does weird stuff with their website and devices for lnp accounts. it will show your real number for a lot of stuff even though your number isn't theirs yet. it's more annoying than anything. evidently the device can't reach Vonage. from a command prompt, type tftp tftp.vonage.net get test see what that gives you. also, who is your isp and how is your network set up? |

Now this is an interesting problem. Can't wait to see how it turns out, and turns out for the best, I'm sure. |

My ISP is SBC (DSL). This is set up really simply: modem--> rounter --> computer. No options set on the router (except PPPoE for teh DSL dialup).
tftp tftp.vonage.net get test just times out.
Interesting? Frustrating! |

ok, you definitely can't connect to Vonage. I've never heard of sbc blocking ports before. hmm... what modem is it? the modem connects directly to the dsl and the dsl goes straight to the CO right? |

Yes, the modem connects to DSL and the DSL line is the first into teh house (i.e., not a subsidiary line). The DSL Modem is a Speedstream. |
