This could be a hardware problem, but I doubt it if you've got a phone light solid. I still think it is a MAC issue or some other setting at Vonage, as I said above.

Did you check the MAC address to make sure the one on your config screen (not the one on your box) agrees with the one Vonage has active on your account?

One other thought. Are you sure you have your phone plugged into port 1 on the back of the router and not port 2? Someone else who had your problem a while back said he thought the order of the phone ports was reversed from the front of the router to the back, and his solution was to change the phone to the correct port. I expect you've checked that, but since it happened to someone else, I thought I'd mention it.

Good luck. I hope you can get this working today.

Malvolio

I had the same problem (sounds like it anyway) when I first hooked up. I hit the reset button in back of RT31P2 and in a few seconds it worked. I think you have to push it in for about 20 - 30 seconds.

Done all of the above about 50 times, with and without tchncial support. As I keep saying, the phone lights on teh front of both routers NEVER light up!

and it won't no matter what you do or how many routers you get if you can't connect to tftp.vonage.net as on page 1. that is your first problem. did you try the test without the router? computer connected directly to modem.

Yes, I can tftp fine through teh router from a command line. It's just that teh router won;t do this itself.

Malvolio,

I mistyped in my previous post. If you phone indicator light is NOT on, then the problem may well be at Vonage.

Since you have switched routers and can tftp to Vonage, I'm almost certain your problem is that Vonage has not authenticated your current MAC address. This happens occassionally when adapters are replaced.

I suggest you PM vonagebest or ssantanna (both from Vonage) and ask one of them to check the MAC address Vonage is showing for your account. Then you can check the MAC address in your RT31P2's config screen to make sure it matches.

If that's not it, I'm stumped.

Good luck.
