You can't send text messages through Vonage since this is just like a home phone, except it uses your bandwidth to make the call.
You can however make phone calls all over the world including cell phones. Depending on the country it could be a free call, but cell phones are usually not free. Check out Vonage website for details. |

If it's on the same country like CA to CA, the calls are still unlimited correct? |

Let me clear up this cell phone versus landline confusion. There are two kinds of cellular area code arrangements in the world:
1. "Geo". About 8-10 countries in the world, notably including Canada and U.S.A., issue cell numbers with simply the same area codes as landlines, namely "geographic area codes". E.g., my Canadian cell numbers and landline numbers are both in area code 204.
2. "Non-geo". The rest of the world's countries (the vast majority, including all of Europe) issue cell numbers with special "non-geographic area codes" that cover the whole country. E.g., my U.K. cell number has area code 7982, even though my time in the U.K. was spent in area codes 20 (London) and 1438 (a town 35 miles from London).
Regardless of where you are calling from, your call into or within a "geo" country will cost the same regardless of whether you're calling a cell or landline, and in fact, your carrier won't even know whether you're calling a cell or landline (same area codes for both). That cost will either be free (if it's included in Vonage's free countries list for your plan) or a per-minute price for calling that country (cell or landline, same price).
Also, regardless of where you are calling from, your call into or within a "non-geo" country will cost differently depending on whether you're calling a cell or landline, and in most cases, the call to a cell will cost more, often a lot more. That's because in a "non-geo" country, the caller (from inside or outside that country) pays for everything, even for the airtime of the recipient. That's why Vonage and other carriers even have a list of different per-minute prices for various "non-geo" area codes or cellular carriers.
The free countries that Vonage lists as "cellular numbers included" are all "geo" type countries. So, within and between Canada and U.S.A., cellular and landline recipients cost the same (free on most Vonage plans). |
