Recently, Vonage pushed its branded firmware version 12.0.1-r100920-3.4.2 on to my Linksys RTP300 ATA.
There are a few problems with this firmware.
The ATA frequently puts the Vonage line in "disabled" status, requiring a reboot. There's no way to reboot via the firmware, it requires a physical power cycle.
As noted in this thread Port Forwarding appears to be broken, but is actually a problem with NAT Loopback failing. https://forums.vonage.com/showthread.php?t=3829
Additionally, the ability to set DNS servers is broken when using "Obtain a DNS Address Automatically" as the connection type. The firmware allows you to set a single DNS Server, but it does not actually apply it. On the status page, the two default DNS servers from my ISP are shown. It should allow all three DNS entries to be set, but two are grayed-out and the first one is ignored.
I want to use OpenDNS.org DNS Servers to be able to administer DNS resolution (and my ISP uses crummy DNS servers that frequently fail.)
Anyone know how to fix this or obtain the old Linksys-branded firmware that worked just fine? |

1. Call up Vonage and ask Advance tech support, Have the agent walk thru a full Admin softreset on router. If that doesn't resolve the issue. You can ask to roll back the firmware to older verison. |
