Not sure if this helps, but my Apple Airport Extreme Basestation (wireless router) is set to distribute IP addresses. I plugged the Linksys phone adapter directly to the LAN port on the Airport. I did not change a single setting and it worked right away.
In order of "wiring", it goes like this: Internet-Rogers Cable Modem-Router (in my case the Airport)-Linksys Phone Adapter |

when you say your computer looses it's connection, is that all programs? or just IE??
IE sometimes gets a check back in a checkbox even tho your un check it, sometimes it wil lcome back..
go to Tools, Internet Options, Connections, Lan Setup and make sure "Automatically Detect Settings" is UN-CHECKED..
f it is your whoel computer, then maybe you need to change some of your DHCP settings.. I am not sure.. mine worked fine, I have my cable modem and original Linksys router upstairs in my bro's apt. and then I just plugged my Vonage Linksys Voip router into the LAN line that was running into my computer, then I ran to my computer through my new router.. I am behind 2 routers.. my computer worked right away and so did my phone.. I was expecting problems, but didnt' have any..
there should have beena bunch of instructions and even a CD ROM with your kit form Vonage, I'd check in there and see if there is somethign that needs to be turned on or off.. I seem to remember reading about DHCP settings being changed.. |
