Hi all,
I'm using Vonage with the RT31P2 Router configured in front of my VPN router on DSL. Frimware 1.26.01 Voice Version: 2.0.12(LI). I'm trying to connect the ATA line to my Voice Pro 412 (VP412). It's an older pbx/auto attendant w/ voicemail from the now defunct Voice Logic company. (very nice and inexpensive, but no support )
Here are my problems: ================= When using a connected handset I get a fast stutter generated by the PBX. Inbound calls to the PBX seem to ring through to the auto-attendant just fine. If I connect the handset directly to the RT31P2 I can dial-out and recieve calls just fine. So my problem is dialing out. I can;t seem to get a dial-tone through the PBX.
I've searched the forum with no luck. I've tried adding a DSL filter, switching the phone cord and resetting the router. Unfortunately Vonage states that they do not offer support for PBX systems. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance for the help,
~Ed

Possibly the loop voltage from the router is too low for the PABX to recognise. |

ewinston,
Have you found a solution to your problem? I have the VP 412 too. I cannot get it to work correctly when attached to the Vonage lines. It works fine when attached to traditional phone lines.
I hope there is a way to get it to work. VP 412 is a great box for small companies.
Thanks,
Steve |

I also have a VoiceLogic 412 and it works great with the Motorola VT1005V unit but doesn't work with the Linksys PAP2. I can call out fine but when calling in the 412 either doesn't pick up the line or immediately drops the line when connected. The ringing voltage is about the same (60 VAC) but the Motorola rings at the normal 20 Hz while the PAP2 uses the Eurpopean 25 Hz ringing signal.
I tried to get Vonage to send me a Motorola unit for the line but they don't use them any more (or thats what the CSR said).
If anyone has additional ideas about getting the two to work please post them here. |

Still no resolution for this. Bumping to the top in the hopes that someone has seen and fixed this.

I'd suggest that you call Vonage and see if they can increase the output line voltage on your RT31P2. I suspect the PBX is expecting 48 Volts DC and not getting it. |

On most PBXs you have to configure it for what outbound line to use.
Are you sure the PBX is configured correctly?
Have you tried it on a POTS line to make sure it's not a problem with the TA? |

I also have a Voice Pro system, it's a great box but does not seem to work well with Vonage. Has anyone had any luck in figuring out what the problem is here ???? |

Is it possibly the polarity of the line? I remember some people reporting that their RT31P2's were putting out reveresd polarity signals. If so, a simple phone jack with screw terminals can be used to reverse the wires... or just hack it with some bare Cat3 or Cat5 wire.
This can also be changed via software in the RT31P2, but I doubt the Vonage techs would know where it is. For those brave enough to call Tech Support and go for it, the Vonage tech should be able to find it under Advanced Setup / Line 1 (or 2 if on port 2) and it'll be alll the way at the bottom of the page.
Also, maybe you can have them change the impedance as well... under Advanced / Regional / FXS Port Impedance |
