How do I use caller ID blocking with Vonage? This will be the first time in years I've had to give my phone number out to random people I call, and it's not a nice feeling at all...!

It's easy to block your outgoing caller ID on a "per call" basis ... just dial *67 before 1+AC+Number.

Be aware that *67 does NOT block CID made to toll-free numbers. The presumption is that since the receiver is paying for the call, it's his "right" to receive the inbound CID.

If you'd prefer to block your outgoing caller ID on ALL of your outgoing calls, I suspect Vonage can set up your account to do so, but I'm not sure.

What I would really like is what almost every state requires local telephone companies to provide: the ability to block caller ID by default, with a per-call feature code to turn it back on. For the rest of the local carriers in New York, that's selected by *82 -- and they're required to ask you which way you want it set when you sign up for new service. I'm very surprised this isn't one of the settings available for my Vonage account on the web settings page, actually.

You have to dial *67 each call to engage the block. Vonage needs to set something up to allow fulltime blocking.

It's ridiculous that Vonage can't have a setting to block caller ID by default... packet8 and other Voip services have that feature- why not Vonage?

I just signed up with Vonage...Not having permanent caller ID blocking is almost making me want to return the unit and cancel service. Such a simple feature to implement that everyone else seems to have.

I also have just signed up with Vonage and agree - I think that a permanent caller id blocking feature is really essential and should be rather easy to add in considering all the other features offered. I wonder if there is a way to get Vonage to see if there would be strong support for this so that they would consider it.
