I think the original version of "Woo-Hoo" was done by the "Rock-A-Teens", written by Geroge Donald McGraw, at least according to the liner notes for the soundtrack to the movie "Pecker" (another John Waters triumph). No copyright date is given, but it sounds circa late 50's early 60's.

Mr. Waters describes the song, in the liner notes, as "that dangerously happy, sexy without knowing it, untranslatable ditty of the vintage simpleton sound".

Whatever.

If you'd like to hear some other equally annoying "novelty tunes", check out the "Pecker" CD. RCA Victor 09026-63339-2

when i first head that song on kill bill i was barfing on the floor.. then when i saw Vonage use it i just figured one of the big wigs saw kill bill and like that song and felt s/he should use it since it was something us americans arent used to hearing...

its one of the worst sounding songs ever to pass my ears. quentin tarntino loved it when he heard it in a shop over in japan... but that still doesnt say much...

this ranks up there wiht the quiznos commercial when they had those screaming rats singing on their commercial (c;mon... using rats to sell food???)

Hey now! I agree it is quite an annoying song, but those singing rats (aka the Sponge Monkeys are from rathergood.com and that is one heck of a funny site. If you go there you will see that was actually a spin of of the song We Like The Moon...

Joel Veitch just started a band in London called 3 Seconds of Love..good group.
