Post subject: Is Vonage Down Again?
I just had a glitch on the net. I lost my LAN and
Vonage
service for a few minutes. I think Comcast went down momentarily.

I'm not sure what the problem is with your
Vonage
system, but I can see you're on Optonline. I'm also on Optonline and get the same traceroute results you get -- but I have not been down at all in the past 24 hours. The timeouts at the server end are due to
Vonage
's server settings, not a problem. You would get the same results if your
Vonage
were working fine -- like mine is.
I don't know what is causing your problem, but the traceroute results you posted suggest that it is not an Internet problem.
Good luck. Hope you get a response from
Vonage
soon.

I'd send a copy of the traceroute to your ISP.

Rebus,
I'm not sure what he's going to learn by contacting his ISP. As I wrote, I'm on the same ISP (Optonline) and get the same traceroute results with a working
Vonage
phone. Also, you can see in the traceroute info that he is reaching
Vonage
.
Also, since I'm on the same ISP it is unlikely that it is a port blocking problem at the ISP.
I expect the problem is with his adapater, his setup or his
Vonage
account.
Anyway, I hope he gets a call back from
Vonage
to help him diagnose this issue.

I agree.
things to look at: status page (if you have any device besides the PAP2) if you have the RT31P2 it's at 192.168.15.1 by default. would be interested to know what it says. also try tftp tftp.
vonage
.net get test from a command prompt.

interesting. that's the test someone was told to do to see if the device could connect to
vonage
's servers.
not sure what the deal is. is the device plugged directly into the cable modem? if not, have you tried that? (I know you haven't changed anything, but if you want help besides calling
vonage
, this is the best I can think of)

yep, its hookedup directly to the cable modem (mot surf board)... everything else is working except
VoIP
..
Is there anything else i can try? is there a hidden menu or debug mode i can try?
I really don't want to sit on the phone for 2 hours with
vonage
help-desk and told to do all the same stuff that i've already done.
