I am a Tier 2 Tech and I will be happy to pick up the ball (that everyone is dropping) and run it in for the touchdown for you.

Post subject: Just to keep everyone up to date...
I got some popcorn got my laptop and got very comfortable on the couch, and dialed
Vonage
. After being on hold for oh, about an hour i got in touch with a tech support person. "Woo Hoo!" this time it didn't hang-up on me.
Anyway, the nice guy said my device was removed from the account and they will generate YET another ticket to put it back on the account. That's about 4 tickets now. I asked how long it will take, i was told less then 1 day. I question how can one have a
Vonage
account with no devices attached to it? Wouldn't that bring up any red flags?
By the way, he also mentioned that they are having problems with their PBX.
If this works, i would like to thank everyone here for all your support and understanding and "Tom@Vonage.
If this doesn't work I’m going to cancel
Vonage
and run the linksys over with my car.
(i'll take pictures and post them here)
I really would like to have Mr. Jeffrey Citron (Vonage CEO) to drop in to this group. But i'm sure he's too busy with many important issues... playing golf. Woo Hoo.
I'll keep you all updated.

Not necessarily. Depending on interface naming conventions, nycmny2wcx1-vonage-3-1.wcg.net (64.200.60.250) could be the router at Williams' end of the circuit. Netblock 64.200.60.0/24 belongs to Williams (

) not
Vonage
(

).

Certainly possible. But 'destination net unreachable' can be symptomatic of a routing issue, a circuit outage, or just simple ICMP filtering. I've seen hours-long "outages" that were nothing more than an ISP/NSP failing to route around problems, sometimes inexplicably. (BGP should have dropped the route.) Hence, the reason I suggested he forward the traceroute to his ISP.

I understand your point. I was basing my speculation on the fact that I am on the same ISP in the same area and got the same results from a traceroute -- with a working
Vonage
phone.
I should have been clearer about why I said that.

No harm done. My only concern was the 'destination net unreachable' message, because the return path could be different for the two of you.
Since your phone works, it
seems
that must be normal and that
Vonage
is doing some filtering... unless your phone adapter, and his, are connecting to two different
Vonage
gateways.
Only
Vonage
knows for sure.
