I have recently been having choppy calls.....I have tried everything I can think of. I have called Vonage tech support and they looked over everything and said that I am having packet loss and they had me download ping plotter. I used it for a while on various sites and I have noticed a high amount of latency and a lot of packet loss at this one server that keeps popping up. Now I have Charter internet service, but most of the website I put in for it to ping plot seem to go through that one server Dallas1.Level3.net which has a 10-40% packet loss most of the time. So I don't know if that is their server or what. So I called them and of course I mention the Phone Adapter and the Router and THE CASE IS SOLVED according to the Cable company. If you even mention that you have another setup besides a computer to modem, then it's nothing on the IP's end its your equipment. The point is....my internet service used to scream more than 3MBPS and hardly ever had issues or went down, now it goes down at least once a week and it's just so so and is hardly ever above 2.5 MBPS. I pay for 3MBPS, should I comlain about the .5? I have had Vonage for over a year now and this is the first time we started havin issues with choppy and dropped calls.

My question is : HOW DO I GET MY CABLE COMPANY TO LOOK PAST MY MODEM INTO THEIR SYSTEM AND FIGURE OUT WHAT IS UP ON THERE? Does anyone have any ideas?
I have gone from BAD A** Internet connection, to SO SO Internet connection. Since SO SO still falls under their guidlines for good service I feel like I stuck with my choppy calls because they won't look at anything on their end.

then don't mention you have it.
it would be good if you would describe your network setup and the make and model of your equipment (from cable modem on down).

Never tell your ISP you have a router. Always tell them your cable modem is plugged directly into your PC.

Currently Modem (Cable Company Rented, AMBIT), Phone Adapter Motorola, Router D-link DI-604

It was setup Modem, Router, Phone Adapter, but when I started having problems, I switched it.

hard to say, esp since it's a new problem. does charter have a local speed test? for instance, I can go to test.tampabay.rr.com and download large files to see if I'm maxing out my alloted bandwidth. it would be good if they have that. if not, do they provide web space? if so try uploading and downloading from it just to see what you're getting. these tests are important because they're local. in other words, you should be getting 3mbps from them. if not, then there's probably an issue with your isp. but before you call I would plug a computer directly into the cable modem and test it again, just to rule out any problems with your network setup.
