Post subject: Installed today - no dial tone. What next?
Received my Linksys RT31P2 today from
Vonage
. I followed the installation instructions, and the router is working fine, but I don't have a dialtone (tried 2 different phones and cords). The handset is "live" and I get tones when I press buttons.
Vonage
help file says the Linksys will generate a dial tone even if not hooked up to the WAN port.
Anybody got a suggestion?
Vonage
support line is "experiencing a large volume of calls...".
Earthlink cable broadband.

Post subject: The problem was improper setup by Vonage before shipping
John;
Thanks for your help. I had to phone
Vonage
support and they determined that the unit was not properly set up before it was shipped to me. Efforts by them via Internet couldn't fix it on the spot (something to do with the encription code), so repair service is supposed to have it corrected within 24 hrs.
