Post subject: Sharing Internet through computer to vonage adapter
Hello,
I'm having an issue sharing my internet connection to my
Vonage
adapter. At my location I am currently using a Pantech um175 aircard for internet. This is a temporary solution until I decided what provider I will be using but that won't be for a few months. I know that this will work and I get a very strong signal where I am so it should not be an issue. What I tried to do first was run a regular cat5 cable from my computers onboard lan connection to a linksys router then to my
Vonage
adapter. With that setup I could only get the yellow light next to the (computer/router) connection on the
Vonage
adapter to light up. So I bought a cat5 crossover cable. Now with the
Vonage
adapter hooked up to my motherboard directly with the crossover cable I get a solid yellow light and the green will blink however the same problem. The adapter will say retrieving profile for 20 seconds or so, then I get the 001 error. I took some screen shots of my network connections in the control panel. With the aircard hooked up I show is as a modem, but then also gives it lan/high speed connection below (Local Area Connection 2) The one which I shared was the top (dial up modem one). Also what happens when it's all hooked up and the
Vonage
adapter powered is that on (local connection 1) the x will go away and it will say it connected, the it will disconnect quick then connect again as the
Vonage
adapter powers on. I'm not that familiar with networking and I'm not sure what to try next so any help would be appreciated, this is windows xp pro by the way.

I figured it out, I was connecting the crossover cable to the yellow (router/computer) port on the
Vonage
adapter. I tried connecting it to the blue (modem) port and it works fine.
