PostPosted: Thu Jan 27, 2005 10:41 am    Post subject: Signs LNP Transfer Is Close? :) Reply with quote Back to top

Hey guys.. I've been watching my transfer status like a hawk for the past 17 days, approaching the 20 day mark with no news from vonage.. I know they say no news is good news but I think this is the exception to the rule Smile

I know I haven't waited NEARLY as long as a lot of people posting on the forums but you can't knock a guy for wishful thinking. I noticed today that there is a "ghosting" effect going on in my account online.. when I look at my recent call status for the past few days I notice that inbound and outbound calls are reported twice.. once for my Vonage virtual number and once for my old POTS number. Anyone else experiencing this? It'd be really cool if you said "Yep.. saw that then my transfer was done 3 hours later".

Thanks guys!

Never saw that.

The only sign I got was an email stating transfer was going to take place xx/xx/xxxx. You fill in the date. And then the email, the transfer is complete you are ported over.

Mine have been reported twice (both virtual and POTS) since signing up on Sunday. The crazy thing is that some cell phone calls are coming to the Vonage line when dialing our POTS number, even before I faxed the Transfer paperwork?!? Maybe they use the same provider as Vonage?

xiteer,

I have noticed such "ghosting" also : but that is only when outsiders (non-Vonage) called my virtual number...A Call to my virtual (temp) number showed up as 2 calls : 1 from external to virtual and 2nd from virtual to POTS number..

I have been waiting as eagerly as u for the number transfer...I had faxed the docs on Jan 3rd. I spoke to a CS rep just now (had a wait time of only 12 minutes before getting thro Wink) who said that Vonage received the transfer date (Feb 4th) from my POTS carrier (verizon) and I should receive the email sometime later today...I can hardly wait..and am keeping my fingers crossed till it happens.

All the best for ur transfer and hope that ur the exception (quick transfer)..

Cheers,
icici

P.S. I've had Vonage for a little under a month and havent had anything to complain abt so far....but will know better after the number transfer (since I didnt give out my virtual/temp number to anyone)..

Well,
I decided to give Vonage a call a few moments ago.. even though I'm not going to be at 20 days till this saturday I was intrigued by that ghosting.

I didn't mention anything about the ghosting to the guy who answered my call but he looked up my status and said that my number was set to transfer on Feb. 15th... at least I've got a timeframe now anyhow.

You would think they'd post that information on your dashboard as soon as they had it... He said I would receive an email about the transfer a few days before it actually occurred.

I called this morning (only 4 minutes on hold) and they said my number will transfer on Feb 1. The LOA went in on Jan 3.

MickeySoft,

Did u receive an email confirming the transfer or was ur status updated?

I *still* have not received any email or statusUpdate 9in my onlineVonage account)...I am keeping my fingers crossed that "my LNP should be done on Feb 4th and I will receive an email confirming this a couple of days before the transfer date" (as told by CS rep) happens.

icici,

No email or status change on my account. This CS rep said I'll get an email around the time of the change. He said I should call again on Feb 2 if it does not happen on the first.

What about people who have their number change, did you get a email before or after?
