Post subject: Porting from Verizon question
I'm still in contract with Verizon until the 22nd of this month and we all know how expensive there plans are without the bundle deals. Right now I have a triple play bundle with them and I plan to cancel my cable service along with the phone service.
How would I go with porting my number without paying any prorated fees to Verizon? Is it possible? Since
Vonage
says it will take from 2-10 days. Should I just pay the prorated fees and start the porting process on the day my contract expires so I don't risk losing my number?
Thanks.

Answer?: Start the port before the contract ends or 10 to 12 days before, once the port has completed, then wait until the contract is up then close as normal. then disconnect the service(s) of your choice.Shouldn't have to incur any fees, unless something has changed.
with their disconnect policy, besides you'll need to have the Verizon account active to port the number out any way.so this actually be a good thing..let me know if this helps..

Okay, so I guess when porting numbers it works a bit differently with land lines then it does with cell phones. I thought it worked the same. Thanks for the info.
Btw, have you done this before?
