Post subject: Some echo and talking over each other...
Hello all,
I have searched this forum and scanned the first five pages of topics. I have read discussions of latency and other problems, but I'd like to confirm whether what I'm experiencing fits those categories.
I've had
Vonage
connected through Charter cable, using the Linksys RT31P2 since December. I genuinely like it, and have great hope for the technology. My concern is that during almost every call there are times when the person at the other end start to talk at the same time and confusion erupts. It is more than the fact that we overlap words...there must be some sort of delay or echo involved to cause the unusual (compared to landline) effect.
Also, every once in a while either the person on the other end or I will hear our own voices echo sporadically.
Neither of these problems is enormous, but I hate having people tell me "this call just doesn't sound right."
Can anyone recommend a course of action? I tested my setup using Test Your
Voip
and get a good score on MOS. Roundtrip latency both ways is 164 MS and outbound packet discards were .1%.
Thanks!

I am still using my local service for phone and get the same problem when my husband calls me from Kuwait. I get the same problem on my cell sometimes this echo. So it may not be an
Vonage
issue if this happening on basic landline providers and cell phones as well. Even in Germany we had that problem...sound like someone was on the other end listening to our conversations and sometimes the other party could not hear me so I would have to hang and call back.
