Started about 3 weeks ago was in touch with Vonage help but no luck.
Anyone else have or had this problem and a possible fix.
I have 1 double ring at the start of the call and the rest are normal rings all be it at some times they are garbled rings.
I have D link wireless router i 624 firmware up to date. Have been using this router since I have had the Vonage phone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Note called help he said he reset my firmware and then changed to using line #2 still not solved.
Using the VTA VC Vonage box that says its powered by Dlink.
If you need any more info please ask will get as much as I can. Thanks for any help

I have to ask: What is the problem with this?
The first ring is kind of a placeholder - it lets you know that the network is processing the call so you won't hang up and try again. The subsequent rings indicate that the recipient is receiving the call. |

thanks for your reply was worrying that know one else had this problem.
The first ring is normal the next ring is right after the normal ring and its not as loud it is not a normal type ring.
Going to cancel Vonage in 2 more months as I need this phone till the end of October..Going to switch to bell internet and phone if no solution can be found.
This has never happen before in over 2 years and now its started.
I am sure if it was normal when I was in touch with the tech help at Vonage they would have advised me so. They tried different things with no luck. According to them it is not connecting on the Vonage end until after the second ring and they don't know why |

If I understand you correctly, you dial a number, you hear several rings, with an uneven ring-cadence at some point, and then the call is completed. Why is this a problem? |

With all modern telephone networks, the rings heard by the calling party do not correspond exactly with the rings heard by the called party. The number of rings could be different by one or two, but seldome more than that. This is not unique to Vonage.
I still do not understand why this is a problem. |

Any router which supports DHCP and NAT and doesn't attempt to filter or block ports, in its default configuration, will support Vonage.
I have used a Linksys WRT54GS for the last five years or so, and it works just fine. I'm not sure whether or not it's still available. I have also used a D-Link DIR-655 at another site, and it, too, works well with Vonage. |
