Hi, I have to get a fax system. I have monthly fax requirements of between 5-10 outgoing and 1-5 incoming faxes.
Not a lot at all.
I would very much appreciate recommendations as to the preferred methods.
(I really don't want an flame wars - I just need a fax service).
My experience so far is that the Internet fax systems require long email addresses that are arcane. xxx@2223337777.faxservice.com.
I'd like to be able to be able to use a desktop service (like PageSender for mac), so that I can keep track of when faxes were sent and get histories and copies.
Can Vonage Fax do this?
I did have VFax for a time, but I do not know how it's changed/improved in the years since I had it...
Many thanks

If your Mac has a Fax Modem, you will be better off using your preferred solution than any other option out there. It will be more compatible with Vonage Faxing than most fax machines, you can use your existing line or a $9.99 fax line, and avoid any of the headaches and hassles of an internet fax service.
You may need to call Vonage Tech Support to get it up and working to start with, but once up you will be quite impressed. |

Sounds great, but I'd have to subscribe to an e-fax type service, right?
I would prefer to use Vonage if possible, as I like just have fax numbers rather than very long faxnumber/email address combinations.
But I think you are telling me not to do this? |

It is up to you what Internet fax service to choose. I just wanted to tell that once you downloaded fax software and subscribed to one certain service you will get a local fax number without long combination of email addresses, because the sending and receiving of faxes will be made by the interface of the software, not by email. |

There are internet fax providers today that offers pay-per-fax service. This service is suitable only for those who needs to send minimum amount of fax per month. For large corporations, that needs to send and receive huge amount of fax documents, I suggests to subscribe for online fax service from a reputable provider. |

Most Internet fax services now let you use your email account to fax, and have integrated their service with Mac and PC programs. You could just sign up with one of those companies and set up the service like this:
1. Create or modify an email contact for the person you want to fax to 2. Add an email address that has their fax number as the name, like 1xxxxxxxxxx@nextiva [dot] com 3. Send your fax via email to the contact
Now when you review the message history with the contact, you will see emails and faxes together. Hope that helps. |

There are internet fax services that offers the feature voice mailing - allows you to receive incoming voice messages on your number and to listen to them from your account, from the attachment to the alert email, or from a phone by calling your number and typing in your access code. |
