Hi,

I have a problem with my service, basically when I dial out to a non Vonage number there is no audio either inbound or outbound when the call completes. i.e. I get the dialling tone ect just no speech.

The fault is present on incoming calls as well.

One test I did was to phone my Vonage number using one of the PSTN to Vonage access numbers, this worked fine, proving I think there is a fault with the PSTN to Vonage interconnect.

A collegue who also uses Vonage and lives about three miles away also has this fault.

Any advice please?

Have you confirmed that the person you are calling gets the call? Can he/she hear you? Is the voice problem one way or two way?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. The fault has partly been cleared.

The orignal fault was no voice two way i.e. I could not hear them, they could not hear me. The call was completed, they just got a silent call with my CLI.

Anyway, it turned out that it was my ISP's fault (Talk Talk) as they were issuing a low ip address which was not being reconised by some servers, quite a lot of web sites were inaccessable as well in the time it took them to fix it.

Anyway, I have arranged to migrate to Virgin Cable in a few days. The problem now is though is that allthough I can make Local and National calls again flawlessey (sp?) I cannot get any international number to connect, just dead air and the other person does not get the call at all this time. I have checked and rechecked the International setting and even tried toggleling it but so far no joy.

I contacted Vonage last night and they ran a few tests and said it could take 24-48 hours to resolve the issue. Not sure if it's an ISP fault this time as it is working OK on another Vonage account elsewere in the city, same ISP.

Could it be something Vonage has done while investigating the orignal fault?

Sorry for the long post but hope it makes sence.

I think a lot of the problems are with the ISP. My problem is that the incoming voice quality is superb. The outgoing can be choppy or even absent for 10 second periods. Then it comes back. I have tried several adapters, several configurations both inside and outside my wireless router. The behavior is the same. Good luck with Virgin Cable. I too am on virgin.

If you get the outbound audio problem on international calls, post back. It is probably due to the assymetric nature of cable. Fast inbound, slow outbound.
