Hello:
We have Vonage service for a month now and it works okay from our home in USA using DSL. So I have no other experience.
We are in Europe now for the next couple of months attached to a university. Per Vonage, it should work anywhere in the world if Internet is available - perhaps yes, in principle. We have internet connected to my laptop using the 'automatically detect the ip address setting', and the Internet works fine from where I am typing this e-mail. So Internet works. When I connect the Internet cable without going thru the computer to the Vonage box directly, the Vonage box shows an error code 1 or 2 or 3. When I was back in US I talked to Vonage and they said to obtain a static ip address in such a situation. I am not sure how to obtain this static IP address, and to make the Vonage work now that we are in EU. Being in a university set up and using their internet service, is it possible to obtain a Static IP address. Also, if I want to connect the Vonage box to include the computer, what is the sequence of connections? Is it from wall jack to Vonage box and then from Vonage box to the computer? Phone connection seems obvious. Thanks.

By it's an issue with the PPPOE here. Have you tried contacting your provider yet? |
