Post subject: Increased (fake) government fees
Well
Vonage
has done it again. In a rush to become the same as a POTS we have yet another increase in fees.
My $14.99/month 500 minute plan was raised to $17.99 a few months ago. The fake fees continue to increase so that I will be paying close to $30/month now for my $17.99/month plan.
After 5 years sadly it's time to move on to another provider.

The fees only increase the total bill to $24.98. You exaggerate when you say "nearly $30.00." All phone companies charge these fees. Try to get the same $17.99 deal with Verizon! It would cost you three times that amount to get caller id, voice mail, etc....
If you don't like the service, you have other options.....but please stop crying like a little girl about it.
Check your facts.. my last bill was over $26 (that was with no extra minutes).. it is going up $1 now in more fees.
All phone companies charge fake fees, yes. But
Vonage
used to market themselves as different. And I am switching carriers.
And as far as crying like a girl... sorry, I'm not some fool who will just make excuses for a company

Hmmm, let's see . . ."All phone companies charge fees"; "I am switching carriers" . . . Well if all companies charge these fees, then I guess your new company will also!!
I really don't see the point of your complaints nor you switching to another company to save money. Seems to me you are complaning about nothing . .

ziggle, when you find one that will port your number and allow you to port your number from them, provide e911, simlulring, call forwarding, network availability forwarding and the other services
Vonage
has, let me know. I considered magic jack, but does not port numbers and I don't think they have network availability forwarding.
I'm serious, we all like to save money!

I'm switching to Voipo. I've heard good things about them. They are also run by the same company that is probablly the best web hosting provider in the US. Also, I *think* so far based on my interaction with them that their support is in the US, unlike
Vonage
where you can't ever deal with anyone who has english as their native language.

According to Cody at VOIPo, they offer only residential service (no business accounts).
Their 'unlimited' residence account comes with a softcap of 3,000 minutes per month (about an hour and a half per day). They do not offer hunt-groups (aka rollover) or a forward-on-busy feature. Their closest offering is their Find Me feature which is forward-on-busy and on no-answer (and if enabled, takes precedence over voicemail). They do share SIP credentials, thereby supporting softphones and BYOD subscribers.

Well I am on the 500 minute plan with
Vonage
and rarely go over. I don't really care about the other features you listed. It comes with all the features I want.. well except I wish more
Voip
providers would offer you the option of setting specific phone numbers up to be blocked. That would be wonderful.
