Ok. So I plugged a phone cord into the Vonage Portal and into the DirecTV box. I still am not getting any OnDemand or an option to order PPV with the remote. Anyone care to explain what I didn't do correct?
I hope that you know that you can order DTV PPV online whether you have a phone hooked up to the DTV DVR or not.
I have had DirecTV for a couple of years now (though I plan to cancel soon) and have never had a problem getting service of any kind even though I have not had a phone line hooked up 90% of the time. I did, however, have the DVR hooked up to Vonage as an extension using a line splitter and it worked fine. Your Vonage adapter has 2 phone ports but only one is active unless you pay extra to activate the second port.
When you tried to hook it up, did you use a 2 wire phone cord? It won't work with a 4 wire cord.
Yeah, I'm now realizing that I don't need the phone line unless I want to order through the remote. This is not what Directv told us at the beginning when we wanted to order the NFL package. The guy claimed you have to have a phone line and all this crap, so all this time, this is what I figured I needed.
Anyway, I don't even have a phone, I only got Vonage for the directv. So I just had a phone cord from Vonage portal to the directv box.
