Hi, I was wondering if anybody has had success with porting only their fax number to an efax provider while keeping their Vonage voice number. Both the Vonage numbers I have were from Vonage itself and now I want to port my fax number to myfax.com (myfax claims they can port the fax number. efax.com says they cant)
Wondering if someone has done this before and it is possible.
thanks, Harry |

No, I have not ported a fax number from Vonage to myfax. I am using a fax number assigned by myfax, and I'm forwarding my Vonage fax number to myfax.
Why do this? Because my experience with Internet cloud-based fax servers has been that they are flakey. Individual service providers seem to come and go, change their prices and feature sets, and sometimes go down for days at a time. I have, at different times, tried jfax, efax, myfax, yourfax, and hisfax! When I want to change providers, I just open a new account and change the forward-to number associated with my Vonage fax number. Now and then, when I want to receive a document on my real physical fax machine, I just un-forward the number, temporarily, and let the inbound fax arrive on my machine. Normally, I keep it forwarded, so that all the junk fax documents end up in my email and don't waste fax paper.
I can re-route without having to notify all of my correspondents because the published fax number never changes. |
