just to confirm sternzy, you are plugging the phone cord into the back of the computer (in the right port) and into port 1 on your Vonage device right? |

negative =)
I'm trying to send a fax without using a modem or phone line. vonatage being a broadband phone company, i can't fathom why it would be necassary to have any refrance to dial-up fax hardware.
It appears that it's not possible to do what i'm trying to do from what i've read. Vonage should really research into this because all it would take to do this is software. there is no need for a fax machine, or a modem or any type of hardware emulater. |

I wish you would have stated that right from the beginning. No this is not possible. Until someone comes out with a protocol for faxing over IP, the only way to do what you're are thinking is to scan something and send it as a .pdf (or whatever) attachment to email. This is what a lot of the fax service providers do (Net-2-Fax, et al). |

I have XP Professional O/S and I use a s/w package that is phone, answering machine and fax machine. The product is COMMUNICATE! and I have no trouble faxing with it at all. I just select the fax funtion just as though I had a lan line, scan in the pages to be faxed and viola'. |

OK, I'm confused. Windows XP has built-in fax software that utilizes a dial-up modem. You can connect your dial-up modem to your ATA and send a fax using this software. Why do you not want to do it this way? |

What he wants to do, I think, is to scan and send a "fax over IP" and not by using a modem. |
