Hi, my friend is at a rental house in FL and the house won't allow her to make calls besides 1-800 numbers. Does Vonage have a general 1-800 V-Access number?
I'm on a plan that charges for outgoing calls which is why the other person has to call me.
thanks for the hellp! |

No but you can add a toll free number to your account |

ssjmichael already already said he doesn't want to pay for the call. Adding a toll-free number to his account will make him pay for all incoming calls to that toll-free number. |

Edilbert chill out.... A toll free number on your account is just a pointer to the real number on your account. The cost an additional 4.99 USD and incoming calls are not billable. |

I wish you would check Vonage's web site. It clearly states that you would pay a one time activation fee of $9.99 and then $4.99 per month thereafter. The $4.99 per month is good only for the first 100 minutes. There will be a charge of 4.9 cents per minute after you exceed the first 100 minutes. This means whether anybody calls you through the toll free number or not, you will be paying more than 4.9 cents per minute including activation fees and taxes. BTW, the question is "is there a Vonage toll free v-access number?", which means the guy does not want to be charged anything for any incoming call. |

Well I answered the question "no" and offered a solution. The caller can only call toll free. Why are you attacking me in this forum? |

Lighten up. I am not attaking you. It is everybody's responsibility to post accurate information in the forum. And if you made a mistake you should correct it. Everybody knows that an 800 number is toll free for the caller but not free for the owner of the number. You corrected me erroneously by saying INCOMING (we're not talking about the caller and incoming does not pertain to the caller) calls to the toll free number are not billable and it will only cost $4.99 (this is a recurring monthly expense to the owner, not a one-time charge and certainly does not involve the caller). Those comments are not true and misleading everybody in the forum. |

Thanks for the replies. I've decided to just use a calling card to talk to her as it's cheaper than the alternative. My friend from Canada who I talk to regularly is vacationing in Florida but the house she's renting can only make 1-800 outgoing calls. It'd be great if Vonage had a 1-800 V-access number, but oh well. I noticed they used to have one too.
Right now I'm on Vonage's $4.99 retention plan which gives me unlimited incomng calls, and .04 a min for outgoing. That's best for my setup since I usually only talk to a handful of people (from canada and out of state) on this phone and they usually call me anyway (I still have a landline and of course my mobile phone). |

there used to be about five 1-800 numbers for people to use back around 2006~2007 as I remember giving all of them to my family to call if they were outside of my area code.
the closest thing I could find lately (6-2012) is this page with local dial in numbers but its not very handy if you do not have internet access and you must call the number and then dial the Vonage number (if the phone will let you).
