1. Your location
Seattle, WA

2. Your ISP name and type (cable, DSL, wireless etc)
Comcast cable

3. Upload and download speeds
Upload - 6705 kbps
Download - 11470 kbps


4. Modem make and model
Linksys WRT54G

5. Type of Vonage adapter used ie RT31P2 or PAP2
Vonage VDV21-VD

6. Setup of Network ie Modem---->Vonage Adapter-->PC
Vonage adapter ---> Router ---> Modem

7. Issue you are experiencing ie dropped calls, choppy audio etc
Our phone has been working just fine for a few years now. All of a sudden we started getting this error. I've unplugged and reset my adapter several times (all for more than 1 minute). I've reset the router and cable modem as well. No matter what, I continue to get the 004 error. Not sure where to go from here to get my phone working again.

I can't get the app on that link to work.

Speedtest.net and Pingtest.net
What Modem do you have ?

Is the 004 presenting and you have a dial-tone?
004 indicates the VDV21 can access the internet but is having trouble locating a resource on the internet (kind of like page can't be displayed in a browser)

Yes, the 004 error is showing on the Vonage adapter display screen. Yes, I do get a dial tone, but can't receive phone calls.

How do I fix the issue of "not being able to locate a resource on the internet", assuming this is my problem?

Yeah. I saw that thread. My issue has been happening for well over a week now (almost 2 weeks). I figured the folks in that thread just got their 004 error and are experiencing something different.

you may need to call Vonage tech support for assistance to reset the voice gateway.

Have you tried bypassing the router just for testing purposes.

1) Unplug the power to the cable modem and Vonage adapter
2) Connect the V-Portal to the cable modem (ethernet)
3) After a few minutes, power on the cable modem
4) After cable modem is online, power up the V-Portal

Looks like a config set up issue to me. You might want to try calling the tech support. I think that's the best chance of having this fixed.
