Over the last several months I have increasingly run into problems where I can't hear others and they can't hear me when on conference calls, and then I get disconnected completely. It's gotten so bad that I can no longer use my Vonage line to dial into a conference call as I am disconnected after a few minutes every time. I call back using my cell phone and have never had a problem, so I know it's something to do with my Vonage line. No one else on the calls ever has a problem.
To clarify I am not referring to 3-way calling, I am talking about a dial-in bridge and access code everyone uses to call in. This issue has happened on FreeConferenceCalling.com lines as well as InstantConference.com numbers. Is there a list of "Vonage approved" conference calling bridges?
I have spoken with three people at Vonage and none could help me. Did the speed test, rebooted everything, restarted my router, etc. I am at a loss. I work from home and will have to cancel Vonage service if I can't make conference calls. Please help!
Speed test results while on the Vonage phone line & on the internet: Download speed- 839 kbps Upload speed- 1.69 Mbps 1.5ms average jitter Quality of Service 8%
My set up: Linksys Voip Router WRTP54G Motorola Cable Modem SB5100 AT&T 2.4 Ghz Phone E2801 Comcast internet service |

I frequently get random 2 second stuttering/dropouts every 20 seconds on Cisco Unified MeetingPlace conference calls. I'm not using the 800 number, rather I'm using the regular toll dial-in number since I get free national calls with Vonage, to avoid incurring 800 charges for my company.
Comcast in Palo Alto, CA. Speedtest.net gives 15Mbit/down, 4Mbit/up, 15ms ping while on a call. Nothing else is creating heavy network traffic. Router is D-Link DIR-825. Vonage Linksys RTP300 (5.01.04) is on the LAN, it's not working as the internet gateway.
It seems like it's getting worse the past few weeks. I never get disconnected, but it gets so bad I have to call back in on my cell. Regular internet is unaffected so I don't think it's Comcast. |

We were having problems with our local telcos ADSL service (frequent Internet drops) but that impacted all calls not just conference calls (we've recently switched to a local cable company's serice & it works flawlessly).
If also found that Vonage calls have a 4 hour max & then the call drops ... I've been on some very long conference calls & had to reconnect every 4 hours ... Vonage tech support acknowledged the 4 hour max & its something they can't change. |
