1 year Warranty Question

I recently purchased a Vonage Linksys RT31P2 Broadband Router.
I am cancelling my service with Vonage due to poor audio quality. I spoke to several techs and still the issue is not resolved and I am cancelling.
I want to return the router to the store I bought it from but they won't take it back since the UPC was cut from the box which had to be mailed in for a rebate. The retailer (Best Buy) told me I had to get in touch with Vonage. I called Vonage and they submitted a ticket to upper management and they said they would get back to me. I also called Linksys and they also stated that I had to return the router to Vonage.
Since there is a 1 year warranty on the unit I dont see why I should have a problem returning the unit to Vonage and getting my money back from them.
Anyone else ever encounter this type of problem?

Warranties simply cover manufacturer defects, in this case your Linksys router. If the router is defective, then either Linksys or Vonage is obligated to repair or replace it for the 1-year warranty. Unfortunately, warranties do not cover refunds. I assume your problem is with the service and not the router. Is this correct?

I would ask that Vonage or Best Buy or Linksys send me a replacement, and try to work it out with them. You may have a defective box. It is your fault here, not Best Buy or Vonage. If you read the fine print it says the Best Best will not refund purchases that are not in the original box, with the UPC code still on the box, along with all orginal extras packed inside box that came with the product when you purchased it.
