The Vonage device must be hooked to an ethernet port. If the wifi router/modem is the only ethernet port open, you will need to hook it up to that. |

Ok...that I understand My main problem is that, if i hook up Vonage adapter to my router and connect my telephone with the adapter, my phone will no longer be connected with "wire to telephone" cable (please see the diagram) and i shall not be able to make any ordinary calls with it...only Voip calls...right???
By the way, i went to http://infonial.blogspot.com/2008/03/setting-up-vonage-in-india-2.html ...and in the second diagram, two cabels have been shown to connect to telephone, one via telephone jack and other from Vonage router...how is that possible?? telephone has only one port for attachment...how can i attach two cabels to it..?? |

Why would you want to pay for 2 telephone lines? Voip calls work just like line calls except there is no long distance charges and Voip is a LOT cheaper than the old wire line. The phone line should not be hooked up that way unless it is a 2 line phone, otherwise, the phone will be getting power from 2 sources and will not work. |

what if i have not applied for Vonage service but want to use pap2t unlocked adapter with other Voip services. In that case, if i follow your way of using the adapter, i shall be able to make only Voip supported calls through the phone attached to pap2t adapter and not regular phones calls(such as calling other mobiles and lindlines in india)...right??? but i want support for both Voip as well as normal calls from a single phone...is it possible?? |

Not through the same phone. You will have to hook up another phone to the Voip device. You will need 2 separate phones, one hooked up to the wire line and the other hooked up to the Voip device. |

If your Voip provider provides two phone lines, they may use both ports; it's more efficient than using two ATA devices. If they only supply one phone line, then the Phone-2 port is not used. |
