For years I have used the build-in fax feature in WIndows XP. It works like this: You're in a document. You say "print" You choose "fax" as the printer. It works.
I have a phone line coming out of my computer. In the past, that line went into the wall. Not that line (from the computer) goes into the Vonage box.
It makes the noises like it's going to work. Then it stops making noises, waits perhaps 30 seconds and gives a "fatal error." Bottom line: I can no longer send faxes.
I would be GRATEFUL if someone can help me. If you know how to make it work - Send faxes the old way but in the Vonage world OR Point me to a free Send-fax service, or some piece of software that helps.
Personally, I use Internet fax service, that provides a virtual fax printer similar with the one from your Windows. It allows you to send faxes directly from any Office document, using the Internet.
It is possible to fax thru the Vonage device using the windows app..first you want to make sure the modem on your PC is set to resolution : standard or low(depending on the fax model.) baud rate: to 9600 make sure the features if nay are disabled for the send..(call waiting etc.) are you using a two pin phone line connecting the PC to Vonage ? do you have adequate bandwidth? check upload speeds min..90kb also see if your modem preferences will give you access to these settings..then try to fax out ...Good luck!!
