I don't have a motorola so can you explain a bit more? according to the installation guide, 4 blinks is "Device is registering with our servers"

does it ever or has it ever done this:
Rapid blink - Device is updating its configuration or downloading a new firmware. Do not unplug the device if in this state.

and I assume the issue you're having is you never get this:
Solid light - Device has now gone through its entire process. The service should now be working. Pick up the handset and check for a dial tone.

4 blinks means: trying to register device at server (Vonage).

What is your device setup??

cable or dsl?
routers?

Sincerely,

PostPosted: Sun Jan 30, 2005 6:40 am    Post subject: Mine is a 4 blinker too... Reply with quote Back to top

I have used my service since July. With the exception of some early connection problems, I have had stable service for the last 4 months. 4 days ago, I came in and the light on my motorola was blinking 4 times. I still had connection to the internet from my computer, so I know it wasn't the problem. My setup is basic: DSL modem > Motorola Adapter > Laptop.

I have rebooted the adapter, DSL modem many times. Even left them turned off over night.

I cannot afford a call to tech support. I am in the military, stationed in South Korea, and this is my only phone. From what I have read in other posts, it would be impossible for me to wait for 1 hour on hold trying to get service, not good for taxpayers either... lol

Any suggestions on what I can do? If you need more info, let me know, but try and be specific, I know some computer jargon, but I'm not an IT person.

Thanks for any help.

Well, after letting it sit unplugged yet another night, it connected right away when I put in back in the loop. Strange things happen I guess.

Excellent.....I hope I was able to help in some fashion.

I will continue to have my tech buddies try to help out the forum.

Many times as siple shut down of all devices, then a reboot of Cable Modem/DSL modem first then one device at a time will work.

This is have fixed many a customer during installions and service calls for me.

Keep the faith...!
