I have my Vonage VD-21 connected to my DLink 655 router. I have assigned the VD-21 a static IP address as follows: * IP Address: 192.168.0.190 * Subnet Mask:255.255.255.0 * Default Gateway 192.168.0.1 * Primary DNS:192.168.0.1 * Secondary DNS: .0.0.0.0 * MTU Size: 0
After I assign the static IP address to my Vonage device, my Dlink does not list the Vonage device in its list of LAN Computers. If i disable the Static IP address on the VD-21, the Vonage device shows up in the list of LAN computers in the DLink admin page.
I have configured the 655 to put 192.168.0.190 into the DMZ and disabled SIP, added Port Forwarding Rules, and QOS. The Vonage device works well for a few minutes but then call quality degrades. With my computer plugged into the back of the VD-21 (for testing purposes), I try ping -l 200 -t 192.168.0.190 and I get erratic responses like the following, anywhere from 1-2 ms to >100 ms every few pings, and occasionally >500 ms responses. I am confused if the problem is the DLink or the VD-21, I cant understand how the ping results are erratic with my laptop connected directly to the VD-21.
Any assisistance on the two issues: 1) Static IP assignment not showing up on DLink LAN computers 2) Erratic ping results would be greatly appreciated |

You'll get a better response to this if you post it in the Voip forum. This forum is for house wiring issues. |
