Can someone please explain the router setup if I want my linksys Vonage device to be first in line, and plug my wireless netgear router, how do I set it up so they are all on the same network, meaning I want a device that plugged into my linksys Vonage router to talk to a wireless device on my netgear router? Thanks for the help in advance. |

My wireless router is DLINK, but the setup should be the same.
I plugged my cable modem into the WAN port on the Linksys router. I plugged 2 computers into 2 of the ethernet ports on the Linksys router. I plugged my WiFi router into the third port. I did NOT use the WAN port on the WiFi router. I plugged the cable into one of the LAN ports instead. As a result, I only have 1 network and 1 firewall to worry about.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have other questions. |

duhaas ... I have a Netgear wireless router behind the Linksys router and followed Nethog's setup at the following link:

Worked flawlessly with no problems so far. Give it a shot and see if it works for you as well. |

Danbk,
Thanks for the tip. I'll definitely follow the setup procedure as soon as the Linksys router arrives.

I am reading how you guys made Netgear wireless routers work downstream of a LinkSYS Vonage router, but I can not get the DLINK DI-254 to do the same. I can get it going so it is recognized and I can talk to it, and I can get downstream wired access through it, but the wireless will not recognize the portable with a wireless card no matter what I do. Worked before I inserted the Linksys. I want the Linksys up front so as to provide better phone service and I need the Dlink downstream to provide pass through ports for ftp, http, etc. The literature says it is not recommended. Any ideas? |

Your suggestion worked perfectly, the only problem I have is with my wireless connection I dont get a DHCP address from the linksys router like I would expect? If I plug in a static address of 192.168.15.202 it works fine and I can talk to devices that are plugged into the linksys? Anys ideas on what I have to do to get DHCP to work on devices plugged into the netgear wireless? |
