Verizon will be out of my house tomorrow and I will be all Vonage. That could lead to a DirecTV problem as I would like to sign up for the College Gameday plan, but the telephone line is needed. Several people have indicated that their TIVO or Replay has worked over Vonage. Has anyone had any luck getting DirecTV to work with Vonage?
Thanks, Quinn |

I've noticed my DirecTV/UltimateTV receiver dialing out to 18007139274 at least 6-8 times a day, usually every four hours. Does your receiver dial out this much or is this my receiver erroring out and retrying the process ever couple of hours?? |

I have no idea how often my receiver dials out. I have never had cause to know. It is my understanding the receiver does not need the phone line unless you want PPV. I called DirecTV and they said they require a phone line for things such as College GamePlan, but that they can waive this if I don't have one (such as cell only customers). Therefore, that leads me to believe that they really don't need a phone line. My DirecTV with HBO, etc. works fine with Vonage and, apparently, they will let me order PPV w/o a phone line (however, if Vonage works it won't be a problem). |

DirecTV does require a phone line if you have multiple receivers and have your subscription mirrored on each receiver. They do this to make sure they are all at the same physical location. Not sure how strict they are on this rule but we'll find out! |

The only receiver that people have reported problems is with the HDVR2 and DSR7000. Both of these are the series 2 Directv DVR models. They have problems becuase the modems will not slow down and can not connect using Vonage. |
